Biography

Born in Toronto in 1948, Penny Berton grew up surrounded by natural beauty in a small rural village. Following her graduation from New York University, she pursued her interest in filmmaking, producing and directing documentaries for television.
In 1975 she embarked on a round-the-world trip and discovered the island of Bali.
Fascinated by the skill and number of craftsmen on the island, she began to create unique jewelry in silver and gold, which she successfully exhibited in several major European and American cities.

Penny says: "My first jewelry designs expressed my ispiration reflecting Asian culture, tradition and mythology...in the early days, my study of ancient symbols was but an academic exercise. now, the inspiration for my designs is alive, it is rooted in nature, and flowing from within myself".
